Farthest South

pretty far south

Farthest South

Farthest South (sometimes stated as Furthest South), describes the most southerly latitude achieved by man before the conquest of the South Pole rendered the term obsolete.

I love stuff like this.

My own personal Farthest South is probably Lima. Farthest North is probably Andoya, Norway. I could confirm, but that would make this post harder than I care to make it.

    Me:

    Farthest South: Bangkok, Thailand

    Farthest North: Elgin, Scotland

    Guess there is no Farthest West & Farthest East.

    Go to Google Maps and search for your target location. Then paste this line into your browser’s location/url field:

    javascript:alert(window.gApplication.getMap().getCenter());

    You’ll get long/lat detail.

    That’s some mighty scriptfoolery!

    I was way off on personal Farthest South: Johannesburg, SA (26 S). A little farther south than Miami is north. Lima is only around 10 S. My sense of South is weak.

    My sense of North is much more refined: Andoya 69 N.

    I’ve been to Key West and Minneapolis.

    What do I win?

    ..I processed a book today with the title “Most Southern Place on Earth:the Mississippi Delta and the roots of regional identity”.. so we’ve all been farther south
